Description:The Riverside Palace of Gondal is more a mansion than a palace, but nevertheless a very attractive building, erected beside the River Gondali in 1875 for Bhojrasinghji, who was the crown prince at that time, and one of the last official Maharajas of Gondal State. A high wall pierced by a huge Iron Gate forms the entrance and inside you find a fine lawn and plenty of leafy trees.
Accommodation:The 11 double bedrooms are appointed in a combination of original period and modern furnishings. Attached baths feature all modern fixtures and most of the rooms have private balconies. There is a swimming pool here as well and boats for rowing in the nearby lake, which is a great place for bird watching. The best views of the river are from the two splendid rooms on the terrace which are reached by spiral staircases and have glass corridors and sit-outs.
